Mercy Rising: Simple Ways to Practice Justice and Compassion
by Amber Robinson

The needs are real: Children are dying from lack of access to basic nutrition and health care. Human slaves are trafficked in our home cities and around the world. Believers face prison time in East Asia.

It’s not that I don’t care, I just don’t know what to do, is the heart cry of many American women. Daily life threatens to send us on emotional overload. It hurts too much to put a face to the victims. Unending media images leave us emotionally disengaged, and we often skim over the tough questions: How do I live out caring for the poor when they seem invisible? Can I care for social justice when I feel broken and am in debt? Is it even possible as a middle-class, exhausted family to do anything meaningful for others?

In Mercy Rising, author Amber Robinson offers the tools women need to make the impact their hearts desire to make. Filled with helpful hints, inspired insights, and solid biblical wisdom, this organized resource makes finding your compassionate feet easily accessible.

With clever charm and earnest exploration, Amber will help even the busiest of women find the right place to spend meaningful moments serving victims of social injustice.

"In Mercy Rising, Amber Robinson presents the issues of social justice through personal and powerful stories, encouraging women of all ages to actively live out their faith in a hurting world.”
—Dr. Wess Stafford
President and CEO,
Compassion International

"Amber strikes the perfect balance of kindness and conviction as she encourages young women to step outside of their comfort zones and be their faith in the world - one act of love and compassion at a time."
--Joan Ball, author of Flirting with Faith: My Spiritual Journey from Atheism to a Faith-Filled Life

“Amber Robinson’s Mercy Rising is a quick and powerful read. She doesn’t avoid the difficult questions surrounding poverty, and she testifies to facing her own fears and obstacles. Packed with practical information and inspiring stories, this read is a must for anyone diving into changing the lives of the least of these.”

Jamie Carie's Wind Dancer Set in Vincennes in
Pre-Revolutionary War America

Local Award-Winning Author’s Book Releases January 1

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN)—Romance novelist Jamie Carie—born and bred in Vincennes—admits she has a wild side, and it's never been more apparent than in her third book, Wind Dancer (B&H Books, ISBN: 978-0-8054-4534-3, Trade Paper, $14.99, releases January 1, 2009).
Isabelle Renoir is different. A free spirit who dances alone in the moonlight as a praise offering to God, she's more at home in the woods with her long rifle and knife than cooking and cleaning in her wilderness town.
As the shadow of the American Revolution stretches to the frontier, Isabelle finds herself on a journey that may overwhelm even her courage and strength. And when the raven-haired beauty meets mysterious Samuel Holt, sparks fly. A brutal attack and capture at the hands of Indians pushes them together in a fight against their captors as well as spiritual forces no physical weapon can conquer.
Writing a story on this subject was a natural thing for Jamie. “I grew up in Vincennes, Indiana, where Wind Dancer is set,” she says. “As a grade-school student, I was taught to have pride in our city where an enormous memorial to George Rogers Clark stands. On field trips, we listened to Clark’s tale of fortitude as we moved from one water-colored mural to the other. I was gripped by the tale. It's where I fell in love with history.”
Readers will fall in love with history too as they read Carie’s novel that is part Last of the Mohicans, part Jane Austen. “Set against the backdrop of the impending birth of a nation and filled with fascinating historical events, Jamie showcases her talent with the written word and her innate ability to craft potent and magnetic characters that immerse the reader in their lives.” (Relz Reviewz)
Jamie Carie lives with her husband and three children in Indianapolis, Indiana. Wind Dancer is her third novel. For more information about Jamie Carie and her books, visit www.jamiecarie.com.

by Jamie Carie

Two Worlds, One Destiny.

Drake Weston, duke of Northumberland, is heir to wealth, prestige, and power. But when his rage pushes him to a tragic mistake, he must leave everthing behind. Not just his home, but England herself. Cloaked in a false identity, Drake slips aboard a ship bearing indentured servants to America.

Serena Winter lives out her Quaker beliefs tending that sick who arrive on ships in the Philadelphia harbor. But never before has she seen such squalor and misery as she finds on the latest shop from England. Nor has she ever met such a one as the half-conscious man with the penetrating eyes and arrogant demeanor. Though she saves his life, even taking him into her family home, there is little gratitude or humility in this man. And yet Serena is certain that beneath the brash exterior is a heart in search of peace.

Against the rich backdrop of Regency-era England and a young America, two passionate, seeing hearts find in each other the strength to face hard truths – and confront an insidious web of deceit that may destroy all they hold dear.
